Draco - HW

Draco is the gateway machine. The names of the computers are all related to castles, so of course the gateway is a dragon.

The system was built from random parts, collected mostly from sales at Fry's.

It has a 486/66 cpu,
Vesa local bus backplane,
16 MB of memory,
Quantum Fireball 3.8 GB disk drive,
Sony 33a CDrom,
1.44MB floppy,
APC Smart-UPS 400.

The OS is based on the following:

Slackware 3.2 distribution
See http://www.cdrom.com/ for more information.
I have been using Slackware for years, and I like it.
the Linux 2.0.30 kernel.
See http://www.linux.org/ for more information.
I try to keep the home system up to date, and am now a little behind. If I had a dynamically assigned IP address, I should upgrade to 2.0.31.
